About
Silvio Tinoco is a leading figure in the development of robotic, wide-field optical imagers designed to capture the transient universe. His research focuses on building the next generation of ground-based telescopes and instruments that can rapidly respond to cosmic explosions, including gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and gravitational wave counterparts. Tinoco’s major contributions are the systems design and construction of key facilities: he led the development of DDOTI, a six-telescope array achieving a 12 deg² field of view (17 citations), and played a central role in COATLI, a 50-cm telescope delivering diffraction-limited 0.3 arcsec images.
