About
Luis Alvarez is an astronomical instrumentation specialist whose work pushes the boundaries of ground-based optical imaging. His primary research focuses on designing and building high-performance robotic telescopes and imagers that deliver exceptional image quality. Alvarez’s major contribution is the development of COATLI, an all-sky robotic optical imager that achieves a remarkable 0.3 arcsecond image quality—diffraction-limited performance from a 50-cm telescope.
