Si-Liang Liu is pioneering the next generation of medical robotics through transformative work on robotic capsule endoscopes (RCEs). His research centers on solving the fundamental challenge of precise, autonomous navigation within the human digestive tract—a critical bottleneck in non-invasive gastrointestinal diagnostics. Liu’s major contributions include the development of advanced magnetoquasistatic field-based localization systems that achieve both three-dimensional and, remarkably, six-dimensional tracking of capsule position and orientation.
