About
Shuaiqi Ren is pioneering the next generation of intelligent microrobots and advanced manufacturing, with research spanning magnetic soft robotics, 4D nanoprinting, and computer vision. His most impactful work introduces magnetic fiber robots that integrate multiscale functional structures at the distal end—a breakthrough for minimally invasive surgery. By employing a “Swiss roll” assembly strategy, these submillimeter robots achieve multiple functions under magnetic control, solving the critical challenge of miniaturizing microtools. Ren also developed magnetically switchable adhesive millirobots capable of universal, nondestructive manipulation in both air and water, with over 34 citations since 2025. In manufacturing, his autonomous inverse encoding approach enables highly programmable shape morphing in 4D-printed nanostructures, while his unsupervised learning method for optical flow (NccFlow) reveals novel geometric principles for robot learning and autonomous driving. With over 100 total citations across his most-cited works, Ren’s contributions are defining new capabilities in surgical robotics, intelligent manipulation, and autonomous systems.
