Ruomin Sui is a pioneering researcher in robotic tactile sensing and dexterous manipulation, whose work bridges the gap between human-like touch perception and autonomous grasp control. Her primary research areas include incipient slip detection, vision-based tactile sensors, and adaptive grasping force regulation. Sui’s most significant contribution is the development of novel methods to detect and evaluate incipient slip—the subtle, pre-failure motion of an object before it fully slips from a robotic gripper.
