About

Qinnan Chen is a leading researcher in flexible electronics, soft robotics, and advanced manufacturing, with a focus on developing high-performance sensors and actuators for wearable technology and biomedical applications. Chen’s major contributions include the design of a high-linearity flexible pressure sensor featuring a Gaussian-curve-shaped microstructure, which enables precise human physiological signal monitoring—a breakthrough cited 54 times since 2023. Earlier work on a direct-write, high-sensitivity pressure sensor with fast response for electronic skins has garnered 45 citations, underscoring its impact on the field. Chen also advanced soft robotics through an anisotropic dielectric elastomer actuator using oriented electrospun nanofiber composite films, addressing mechanical limitations in actuation. More recently, Chen pioneered laser-assisted direct three-dimensional printing of free-standing thermoset devices, opening new avenues for additive manufacturing. With over 100 total citations across these key works, Chen’s research bridges materials innovation and practical device integration, offering scalable solutions for health monitoring, intelligent robotics, and next-generation electronic skins.
