About
Nuria Rosillo is a robotics and computer science researcher whose work spans educational robotics platforms, robot dynamics, and real-time control systems. She has made significant contributions to both theoretical and applied robotics, with a particular focus on bridging academic learning and practical implementation. Rosillo is perhaps best known for her development of innovative educational frameworks that integrate MATLAB/Simulink with physical robotic platforms. Her most-cited work (26 citations) introduced a real-time MATLAB/Simulink/LEGO EV3 platform that has meaningfully advanced robotics education in universities worldwide. This work builds on earlier efforts, including a generalized MATLAB/ROS framework (10 citations) and STEAM-based robotic puzzles designed for primary school learners, reflecting her commitment to robotics education across all levels. On the technical side, Rosillo has made lasting contributions to solving inverse dynamic control problems in industrial robots. Her 2003 algorithm based on Gibbs-Appell equations (13 citations) provided a computationally efficient, recursive solution for real-time robot control — work she extended in 2011 to encompass both inverse and direct dynamic problems. More recently, she has explored real-time path planning using harmonic functions and Proper Generalized Decomposition, demonstrating continued innovation in autonomous robot navigation.
