About
Ming-Hua You is a rising leader in the development of next-generation smart materials, specializing in MXene-based composites for self-powered sensors and soft actuators. Their pioneering work harnesses the unique properties of 2D transition metal carbides and nitrides (MXenes) to create flexible, multi-functional devices that blur the line between sensing and actuation. In their highly cited 2024 study, You demonstrated a Ti₃C₂Tₓ MXene-based light-driven actuator with integrated self-powered multi-modal perception, achieving 46 citations for its novel neural network-assisted intelligent system. Expanding this paradigm, their 2025 work on Nb₄C₃Tₓ-silk nanofiber composites (21 citations) introduced dual-functionality for both sensing and actuation in soft robotics. Most recently, You developed dual-modal flexible sensors using Ti₃C₂Tₓ-bacterial cellulose, enabling neural network-assisted recognition of pronunciations, shapes, and materials. With a total of over 70 citations across these flagship papers, You’s research is at the forefront of merging materials science with artificial intelligence, paving the way for autonomous, energy-efficient wearable electronics and soft robotic systems that perceive and respond to their environment.
