About
Li‐Lan Chuang is a robotics researcher whose work bridges intelligent control systems and musical expression. Her primary research areas include motion control, embedded system design, and human-robot interaction, with a particular focus on anthropomorphic and industrial robotic platforms. She is best known for her pioneering work on the anthropomorphic piano robot, where she developed a hierarchical control structure integrating a host PC with an FPGA-based local controller. This design enabled precise, real-time musical performance through high-performance driving circuits and intelligent algorithms, achieving 13 citations and establishing a foundation for expressive robotic systems. More recently, Chuang has advanced industrial robotics with her design of a SoC/FPGA-based simultaneous motion controller for a four-axis SCARA system (2023), demonstrating real-time forward kinematics and coordinated multi-axis control. Her contributions are notable for combining theoretical rigor with practical implementation, offering scalable solutions for both artistic and manufacturing applications. With a focus on user-friendly interfaces and robust control architectures, Chuang’s work continues to inspire students and researchers interested in the intersection of mechatronics, embedded systems, and creative robotics.
