Justyna Wyrwa is a researcher at the forefront of bio-inspired robotics, specializing in multimodal locomotion and surgical automation. Her work draws profound inspiration from the flying squirrel, whose unique patagium enables seamless transitions between terrestrial jumping and aerial gliding. In her highly cited 2019 study (14 citations), Wyrwa systematically analyzed the squirrel’s aerodynamic characteristics and pitching adjustment mechanisms, providing a foundational blueprint for robots that can navigate complex, multi-terrain environments.
