Joonhong Lim is a robotics researcher whose career spans foundational work in cooperative robotic manipulation through to modern mobile robot navigation and control. He is perhaps best known for his pioneering investigations in the mid-1980s into coordinated dual-arm robotic systems, exploring how two robot arms can collaboratively grasp and transport objects — work that earned his 1985 paper 32 citations and established him as an early contributor to multi-robot coordination theory. His subsequent studies refined these ideas through resolved position control and admissible trajectory determination, tackling the complex kinematic and dynamic constraints inherent in tightly coupled robotic systems.
