Jinrun Zhou is pioneering the frontiers of intelligent soft materials, with a research focus on mechanoluminescent photonic skins and magneto-responsive elastomers for advanced human-machine interfaces and underwater communication. His most impactful work introduces a 3D-printed auxetic mechanoluminescent skin that achieves unprecedented stretchability and stable brightness, overcoming the traditional trade-off between compliance and optical performance in film-based devices—a breakthrough with direct applications in underwater safety monitoring and wireless communication.
