Dr. Hongyun So is a leading researcher at the frontier of smart materials and additive manufacturing, with a focus on developing multifunctional soft materials for flexible electronics, sensors, and soft robotics. His major contributions include pioneering anisotropic gels that exhibit directional electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties—enabling stable operation across a wide temperature range—and creating reversible thermo-responsive composites using PLA/paper bilayers, where he systematically investigated the effect of 3D printing raster angle on actuation behavior.
