About
Hanaa Shuwiekh is a rising scholar in the fields of psychological assessment, cross-cultural validation, and the human dimensions of artificial intelligence. Her research focuses on understanding how individuals—particularly in Arab populations—perceive, interact with, and are affected by emerging technologies. Shuwiekh’s most significant contribution to date is leading the multinational validation of the first Arabic version of the Artificial Intelligence Literacy Scale (AILS), a psychometric tool that enables researchers to measure AI literacy among university students across Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and other Arab nations. This work, which has already garnered 14 citations since its 2024 publication, addresses a critical gap in non-English AI education research and provides a culturally adapted instrument for future studies. In a related investigation, Shuwiekh explored the mediating role of a “dark future” outlook between personality traits and fear of AI in Arab young adults, revealing how existential anxiety shapes technology acceptance.
