Gino Perrotta is a leading researcher in the field of bio-inspired hydrodynamics, with a primary focus on the unique propulsion mechanisms of the California sea lion. Unlike most aquatic mammals that rely on body-caudal fin swimming, sea lions generate thrust using their foreflippers—a rare and highly agile mode of locomotion that Perrotta has helped illuminate.
