About

Daisuke Komizo is a pioneering roboticist whose career has been dedicated to the life-saving application of humanitarian demining. His primary research focuses on the development and control of advanced walking robots designed to detect and map landmine fields, a critical effort to protect civilians and enable safe land reclamation. Komizo’s major contribution is the conceptualization and creation of the COMET series of robots, beginning with COMET-I, a teleoperated six-legged platform. He later advanced this work with COMET-II and COMET-III, which introduced enhanced stability, mobility, and multitask cooperative control. These platforms were among the first global pioneering projects to propose full-autonomous and semi-autonomous robots for mine detection, integrating sophisticated obstacle avoidance and dual manipulator arms for complex field operations.
