Christian Wurll is a robotics and automation researcher whose work spans foundational contributions to robot motion planning and cutting-edge applications in human-robot collaboration and healthcare robotics. Beginning in the late 1990s at the University of Karlsruhe's Institute for Process Control and Robotics, Wurll developed pioneering path planning algorithms for six-degree-of-freedom industrial robots, introducing parallel online approaches, heuristic hierarchical search, and multi-goal path planning strategies that addressed real-world challenges in automated off-line programming — work that continues to accumulate citations decades later.
