About
Cláudia Mendes de Oliveira is a leading Brazilian astrophysicist whose work centers on galaxy formation and evolution, large-scale structure, and the development of cutting-edge photometric surveys. She is the principal investigator of the Southern Photometric Local Universe Survey (S-PLUS), a monumental project imaging ~9,300 square degrees of the southern sky through a unique set of 12 optical filters. This survey, described in her highly cited 2019 paper (197 citations), provides unprecedented spectral energy distributions, morphologies, and redshifts for millions of galaxies, revolutionizing our understanding of the local universe.
