About
Dr. Aifang Yu is a leading innovator in the fields of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs), self-powered sensors, and soft robotics. Her work centers on creating ultrathin, stretchable energy-harvesting devices and smart materials that blur the line between electronics and biological tissue. Her most impactful contribution is the development of an "on-skin" TENG with record-breaking thinness and elasticity (126 citations), enabling comfortable wearable power sources. She has also pioneered the integration of TENGs with dielectric elastomers to create tunable optical modulators (121 citations), a key step toward electronic skin and soft robotics.
