Adia Khalid is a pioneering roboticist whose work has fundamentally advanced the field of non-destructive testing (NDT) through the development of specialized climbing and crawling robots. Her research focuses on creating modular, omni-directional mobile platforms capable of navigating complex industrial environments, including vertical walls, ceilings, and external pipe surfaces. Khalid’s major contributions include the design of a novel external-pipe crawling robot that can traverse straight pipes, bends, and branch connections—a critical capability for delivering NDT sensors to previously inaccessible areas.
