About
Abhishek Rawat is a robotics researcher whose work bridges the critical gap between autonomous navigation and practical infrastructure maintenance. His primary research areas include indoor localization, computer vision, and mobile robotics, with a special focus on developing intelligent systems for real-world applications. Rawat’s most influential work, “An RSSI-Based Localization, Path Planning and Computer Vision-Based Decision Making Robotic System” (2020, 15 citations), tackles the fundamental challenge of indoor navigation where GPS signals fail. By integrating RSSI-based localization with computer vision, he created a robust decision-making framework that enables robots to operate autonomously in GPS-denied environments—a key contribution to the field of service robotics. His subsequent work on a WLAN-based smart door closer with image classification (2021, 2 citations) further demonstrates his ability to combine wireless sensing with AI for smart infrastructure. Most recently, Rawat has turned his attention to sanitation with “An Autonomous Sewage Cleaning Mobile Robot” (2024, 1 citation), addressing the hazardous and often overlooked task of sewage system maintenance. This work highlights his commitment to developing robots that can tackle dirty, dangerous, and dull jobs, potentially improving worker safety and urban sanitation efficiency.
