Songyan Xi is a materials scientist and engineer whose research sits at the intersection of flexible electronics, energy storage, and human–machine interfaces. Xi is best known for pioneering highly stretchable and self-healing strain sensors, as demonstrated in their landmark 2020 work (185 citations), which enabled robust motion detection for wireless human–machine interaction—a critical step toward wearable robotics and soft prosthetics.
