Pawel Zebrowski is a pioneer in the field of multi-robot coordination, with a specific focus on energy-efficient rendezvous and routing strategies. His work addresses the fundamental challenge of how heterogeneous teams of autonomous mobile robots can meet and coordinate while minimizing total system energy consumption. In his seminal 2007 paper, "The Frugal Feeding Problem," Zebrowski formalized the problem of a service robot rendezvousing with every member of a mobile worker team—a problem he proved to be at least as hard as the classic traveling salesman problem. This work, cited 36 times, laid the groundwork for understanding the computational complexity of multi-robot meeting problems. In a companion paper, "Energy Efficient Robot Rendezvous" (28 citations), he introduced two novel algorithms for computing optimal meeting locations, including an approximate globally optimal solution.
