About

Christos N. Mavridis is a robotics researcher whose work lies at the intersection of human-robot collaboration, motion planning, and control theory. His research focuses on enabling robots to work seamlessly alongside humans by developing robust methods for intention estimation and shared manipulation. In his highly cited 2018 work on human-robot collaboration, Mavridis introduced a novel framework that uses prescribed performance control to estimate human motion intentions, allowing robots to actively assist in object manipulation tasks—even when the human partner has exclusive knowledge of the desired trajectory. This contribution has garnered 11 citations and represents a significant step toward intuitive, safe physical human-robot interaction. Mavridis has also advanced robot navigation under complex temporal constraints, developing time-dependent vector field control methods that satisfy Metric Interval Temporal Logic (MITL) specifications. Additionally, he has explored novel human-robot interfaces using surface electroencephalographic (EEG) sensors to decode visual attention into 3D motion commands. His interdisciplinary approach, combining control theory, formal methods, and neurotechnology, positions him as an emerging leader in creating more responsive and capable robotic systems for collaborative environments.
