About
Zhong-Wen Liu is a rising leader in the field of smart soft materials, specializing in the design and fabrication of multi-stimuli-responsive actuators and soft robots. His research focuses on creating polymeric materials that can change shape in response to environmental cues such as humidity, near-infrared (NIR) light, and magnetic fields, with a particular emphasis on achieving programmable and reconfigurable actuation. Liu’s most impactful work, a 2022 study on photoprogrammable moisture-responsive shape memory polymer films, has garnered 64 citations, demonstrating significant interest in his approach to overcoming the limitation of invariable shape changes in traditional actuators.
