Zhiguo He is a pioneering researcher in bioinspired soft robotics, specializing in high-speed, combustion-enabled actuators and locomotion systems that draw directly from nature’s most agile creatures. His major contributions center on developing transient driving methods (TDM) that use controlled combustion to achieve unprecedented speeds in soft robots—over six body lengths per second in multiphase environments like water and air.
