About
Zhaoyao Zhan is a leading innovator in flexible and wearable electronics, with a focus on developing advanced sensors and optoelectronic devices for healthcare, soft robotics, and human-machine interfaces. His major contributions lie in the design and fabrication of high-performance, flexible pressure sensors and electronic skin (e-skin). Notably, his 2017 work on a paper/carbon nanotube-based wearable pressure sensor, which has garnered over 275 citations, demonstrates a breakthrough for physiological signal acquisition and soft robotic skin. Zhan further advanced the field with his all-graphene-based highly flexible noncontact electronic skin (141 citations), enabling high-spatial-resolution sensory properties for prosthetics. In 2018, he introduced a single-step selective laser writing technique for flexible photodetectors (133 citations), a transformative method for wearable optoelectronics in biomedicine and soft robotics. Through these pioneering efforts, Zhan has established himself as a key figure in creating next-generation wearable technologies that seamlessly integrate with the human body and intelligent systems.
