Yudong Shi is at the forefront of advancing human–robot collaboration (HRC) in surgery, with a focus on enhancing precision, safety, and surgeon autonomy. His work spans the development of shared control frameworks that intelligently fuse human input with autonomous algorithms, ensuring that surgeons remain the dominant decision-maker while benefiting from robotic assistance.
