About
Youya Xia is a computer vision and robotics researcher whose work sits at the compelling intersection of underwater perception, human-robot interaction, and deep learning. Best known for developing a conditional generative adversarial network (cGAN) for real-time underwater image enhancement, Xia's 2020 letter addresses one of marine robotics' most persistent challenges — degraded visual quality in aquatic environments — by formulating a perceptual objective function that simultaneously optimizes global content, color fidelity, and local texture.
