About
Yiqing Wang is a leading researcher in bioinspired optics and self-powered sensing systems for human–machine interfaces. Wang’s work bridges nature-inspired design with practical, low-cost fabrication techniques. One of the most notable contributions is the development of a simple, scalable route to fabricate artificial compound eye structures, published in 2012 and cited 78 times. This work demonstrated a hemispherical array of ~5,867 honeycomb-patterned microlenses using femtosecond laser-enhanced wet etching and casting—a breakthrough that mimics insect vision with unprecedented simplicity and affordability.
