About
Yimeng Chen is an emerging researcher specializing in small-scale robotics, stimuli-responsive nanomaterials, and micro/nanomotor systems. Working alongside prominent collaborator Yongfeng Mei, Chen has contributed to advancing the understanding and fabrication of inorganic stimuli-responsive nanomembranes — ultrathin structures capable of actuation in response to environmental triggers. Their landmark 2019 work on nanomembranes for small-scale actuators and robots (11 citations) demonstrated how micropatterned inorganic nanomembrane arrays, fabricated through planar semiconductor integration processes, can be released from substrates to perform complex tasks at scales previously inaccessible to conventional robotics.
