About
Yang-Rui Li is a rising force in the field of nonlinear robotics and aerial manipulation, with research interests spanning dynamics modeling, parameter identification, and advanced flight control. Li’s major contributions include pioneering work on the Full Orientation Flight Robotics (FOFRO) system, a novel multi-rotor configuration that breaks the conventional quadrotor paradigm by enabling arbitrary six-degree-of-freedom (6-DoF) flight poses. This breakthrough allows aerial robots to achieve full orientation control, dramatically expanding their potential for complex tasks in constrained environments. Li further advanced the field by developing an integral method for identifying nonlinear robot parameters under quantization error—a critical step toward robust, real-world deployment of precision robotic systems. With a growing citation footprint—including 9 citations for the 2023 parameter identification study—Li’s work is gaining traction among researchers tackling the intersection of nonlinear dynamics and flight robotics. By addressing both theoretical modeling and practical control challenges, Yang-Rui Li is helping to shape the next generation of agile, full-orientation aerial robots for applications in inspection, manipulation, and beyond.
