About

Xiao‐Hua Qin is a leading researcher at the intersection of micro-robotics and biomaterials, whose work is pioneering the development of next-generation, biocompatible microrobots for biomedical applications. Her primary research areas include 3D-printed biodegradable microswimmers, metal-organic framework (MOF)-based microrobots, and targeted drug delivery systems. Qin’s major contributions are defined by her focus on solving two critical challenges in the field: material degradability and drug loading efficiency. Her highly cited 2018 work on “3D Printed Enzymatically Biodegradable Soft Helical Microswimmers” (363 citations) demonstrated the first fully biodegradable, soft microswimmers capable of navigating complex biological environments, a foundational step toward in-vivo medical microrobots. She further advanced the field with her 2020 study on “Biodegradable Metal–Organic Framework‐Based Microrobots (MOFBOTs)” (129 citations), where she ingeniously integrated magnetic MOF composites to serve as both the drug carrier and the motile component, dramatically increasing drug loading capacity while maintaining full biodegradability.
