About

Xi Xie is a leading innovator at the intersection of soft materials, intelligent sensing, and biomedical engineering. His research focuses on developing stretchable organohydrogels, flexible tactile sensors, and smart human-machine interfaces that mimic the properties of human skin. Xie’s major contributions include the design of environment-tolerant, adaptable organohydrogels for wearable devices and soft robotics, and the creation of a machine learning-coupled piezoresistive sensor array that achieves high spatiotemporal resolution for tactile recognition. His deep learning-enhanced triboelectric acoustic sensor enables robust voice interaction in noisy environments, advancing human-machine collaboration. With over 160 citations for his foundational work on organohydrogels, Xie’s impact is evident across multiple high-impact publications. Notable achievements include an implantable magnetically-actuated capsule for on-demand drug delivery and a soft-hard magnetic transformable fiber for multimodal deformations in soft robotics. His work on three-dimensional interfacial stress decoupling has also contributed to rehabilitation therapy robots. Through these innovations, Xi Xie is shaping the future of intelligent soft systems and biomedical devices.
