Suk-Won Hwang is pioneering the frontier of soft, transient electronics—a field that merges stretchable, biocompatible materials with the ability to harmlessly degrade after use. His research centers on developing biodegradable elastomers and bioresorbable devices for next-generation wearable and implantable technologies. Hwang’s most impactful contribution is the creation of ultra-stretchable and biodegradable elastomers, detailed in his 2023 paper (139 citations), which enables soft electronics that can stretch like rubber yet dissolve safely in the body.
