About

Siyuan Zheng is a leading researcher in the field of rehabilitation robotics, with a primary focus on the design and control of lower-limb robotic systems for stroke patients. His work directly confronts the critical limitations of conventional rehabilitation robots—namely, their large size, complex donning procedures, and lack of portability. Zheng’s major contributions include the invention of a novel hybrid mechanism-based robot for end-traction rehabilitation and a new single-legged lower-limb rehabilitation robot (S-LLRR), both designed to be easily movable and adaptable to different patient heights, enabling in-time therapy even during the acute stage. His research has garnered significant attention, with his most cited paper accumulating 17 citations. Notably, Zheng has also advanced human-robot interaction by developing sEMG-based gain-tuned compliance control strategies, which use physiological signals to enhance the safety and performance of passive training. Through these innovations, Zheng is making rehabilitation more accessible and effective, directly improving the quality of life for stroke patients.
