Siyuan Ma is a leading figure in the field of soft and stretchable electronics, with a research focus on advanced materials for wearable devices, soft robotics, and human-machine interfaces. Ma’s most impactful contribution is the seminal 2018 paper, “Silicones for Stretchable and Durable Soft Devices: Beyond Sylgard-184,” which has garnered over 217 citations. This work revolutionized device fabrication by identifying and characterizing silicone elastomers that offer superior stretchability and tear resistance, while also enabling reliable interfacial bonding—a critical requirement for creating complex, multi-layered microfluidic and soft robotic systems.
