Savithramma P. Dinesh‐Kumar is a leading figure in plant molecular biology and immunology, best known for pioneering the study of plant innate immunity and the molecular mechanisms underlying resistance to pathogens. His major contributions include the discovery and functional characterization of key immune receptors, such as NLR proteins, and the elucidation of signaling pathways that activate defense responses. Notably, his work on the tobacco N gene and the identification of the first plant immune receptor complex has been foundational, earning over 10,000 citations across his career.
