About
Payam Nourizadeh is a roboticist whose research focuses on the critical challenge of autonomous navigation in unstructured outdoor environments. His work centers on wheel–terrain interaction, specifically the detection and estimation of wheel slip and skidding—surface hazards that can compromise a robot's controllability and lead to mission failure. In his highly cited 2022 paper (13 citations), Nourizadeh developed an in situ slip estimation method for mobile robots operating on rough terrain, providing a real-time solution to a persistent problem in field robotics.
