About
Mufang Li is a materials scientist and engineer whose research sits at the intersection of smart materials, flexible electronics, and wearable sensing technologies. Working primarily with advanced nanomaterials including graphene oxide (GO), carbon nanotubes, and conductive nanofibers, Li has made significant contributions to the design of stimuli-responsive actuators and high-performance flexible sensors. Her most-cited work, a 2018 study on multistimulus-responsive GO/CNT-PDMS bilayer actuators (188 citations), demonstrated a breakthrough approach to building biomimetic robotic systems capable of perceiving and responding to multiple environmental triggers. Li has consistently pushed the boundaries of wearable sensor technology, developing breathable, stretchable, and highly sensitive piezoresistive devices suited for human activity monitoring, medical diagnostics, and human-machine interaction — several of which have garnered over 60 citations. Her work on moisture- and photothermal-responsive actuation films further established her as a leading voice in intelligent material design for remote control applications. More recently, she has explored conductive hydrogels for bioelectric signal monitoring and adaptive strain-sensing systems. Collectively, her research portfolio reflects a sustained commitment to bridging fundamental materials innovation with practical applications in robotics, healthcare, and artificial intelligence.
