Mu-Seong Mun is a leading figure in assistive robotics and human–machine interaction, with a career dedicated to restoring mobility and independence for individuals with physical disabilities. His work spans intelligent wheelchair systems, advanced prosthetic hands, and robotic gait assistance for the elderly. Mun’s most influential contribution is his 2004 paper on an intelligent robotic wheelchair, which integrates electromyogram (EMG) signals, facial gestures, and voice commands into a seamless human–computer interface. With 75 citations, this work laid the foundation for non-invasive, multi-modal control of assistive mobility devices, enabling users to navigate intuitively.
