About

Min-Ha Oh is pioneering the emerging field of transient soft robotics, where materials are engineered to not only function but also control their own life cycle. Their research centers on developing on-demand degradable soft robots and electronics that maintain full hyperelasticity and actuation during operation, then rapidly break down under specific external triggers—a critical advance for sustainability, hardware security, and zero-waste technology. Oh’s most cited work, a 2023 study on photodegradable silicone elastomer composites (29 citations), demonstrates soft robots with configurable lifetimes, while a 2024 paper on magnetically actuated trigger-transient actuators (12 citations) introduces polypropylene carbonate-based materials that both move and degrade on command. More recently, Oh has explored UV-triggered cascading degradation via self-fluoride amplification and, in 2026, achieved biodegradable yet hyperdurable robotic fingers for zero-waste soft electronics. Their contributions also extend to 3D-printed expandable structural electronics using multi-material printing with silicone/silver composites. By merging material chemistry with robotic design, Oh is laying the groundwork for a new paradigm of environmentally conscious, secure, and reconfigurable soft machines.
