About

Masoud Hasany is at the forefront of next-generation biomaterials, pioneering self-healing hydrogels that promise to revolutionize tissue engineering, soft robotics, and bionic devices. His landmark 2019 review, cited over 590 times, framed self-healing hydrogels as a “paradigm shift,” addressing the critical brittleness that has long limited clinical hydrogels. Hasany then delivered on that vision by engineering unbreakable, multifunctional silk–graphene hydrogels—capable of transmitting biological signals with unprecedented durability—garnering nearly 190 citations. His recent work pushes boundaries further, creating ultra-stretchable, super-tough ion-doped hydrogels for advanced robotic sensors and human motion tracking, achieving record stability for commercial adoption. Beyond mechanical innovation, Hasany develops smart alginate bio-inks for 3D-printed tissues, tackling the grand challenge of fabricating fully functional organs. His research uniquely bridges material science and biomedical application, producing hydrogels that are not only tough and self-repairing but also conductive and biocompatible. With a rapidly growing citation impact exceeding 800, Hasany is shaping the future of intelligent, lifelike materials for regenerative medicine and human-machine interfaces.
