About
Mani Srivastava is a pioneering researcher whose work spans embedded sensing systems, computer-aided design, wireless sensor networks, and cyber-physical security. Over more than three decades, he has made foundational contributions to the design and deployment of intelligent, application-specific systems at the intersection of hardware, software, and the physical world. Srivastava's early career produced landmark CAD tools, most notably the LAGER system for algorithm-specific IC design and the SIERA framework for rapid hardware-software co-prototyping, work that helped define modern electronic system design methodology and has accumulated nearly 250 citations combined. His research then expanded into networked sensing platforms, including the Networked Infomechanical Systems (NIMS) and RAGOBOT mobile sensor network projects, advancing ambient intelligence and wireless robotics. His 2015 paper on PyCRA, his most cited work with 141 citations, tackled a critical vulnerability in embedded sensing systems by developing physical challenge-response authentication to protect sensors in life-critical applications like aviation and healthcare. More recently, Srivastava has pushed into precision navigation, applying neural-Kalman filtering for agricultural robotics and extending time synchronization protocols to IoT environments. His career reflects a sustained commitment to making embedded and cyber-physical systems both smarter and more secure.
