Dr. Lucia Mona is a leading atmospheric scientist whose research centers on the remote sensing of aerosols, with a particular focus on mineral dust and volcanic particles. Her major contributions lie in advancing the characterization of aerosol optical, microphysical, and geometrical properties through the synergy of ground-based lidar networks and satellite observations. Dr. Mona played a pivotal role in the EARLINET observations of the 14–22 May 2006 long-range dust transport event during SAMUM, which garnered over 63 citations and validated dust transport modeling.
