Aldo Amodeo is a leading figure in atmospheric aerosol research, with a primary focus on the long-range transport and optical characterization of mineral dust. His work is central to understanding how Saharan dust plumes impact air quality and climate across Europe. A key contribution is his detailed analysis of a major dust transport event during the SAMUM 2006 campaign, where he combined Raman lidar and AERONET Sun photometer data to precisely determine the geometrical and optical properties of a dust plume traveling from North Africa to Southern Europe.
