About

Oriol Jorba is a leading figure in atmospheric aerosol science, whose work has fundamentally advanced our ability to forecast and understand the transport of dust and smoke on a global scale. As a key contributor to the International Cooperative for Aerosol Prediction (ICAP), Jorba was instrumental in developing the first global multi-model aerosol forecasting ensemble (ICAP-MME), a landmark achievement that has garnered over 280 citations and set a new standard for operational aerosol prediction. His research focuses on the complex interplay between desert dust, wildfire smoke, and the atmosphere, using an innovative combination of ground-based, spaceborne, and passive/active remote sensing data with high-resolution particle dispersion modeling.
