Kaori Sato is a pioneering researcher in humanoid robotics and human-robot interaction, with a career defined by the quest to build machines that can perceive, move, and communicate like humans. Her foundational work includes the development of the "WE-3R" (Waseda Eye No.3 Refined) anthropomorphic head-eye robot, which explored how robots could express emotions using mathematical "equations of emotion" and mimic human visual behaviors, such as adjusting eyelids to brightness.
