About

Jiman Luo is a robotics researcher whose work focuses on path planning, vehicle control systems, and parallel manipulator design. Luo’s most cited paper, “The improvement of the artificial potential field robot path planning based on 3-D space” (2012, 11 citations), addresses a key challenge in autonomous navigation: enabling robots to avoid obstacles near target points in three-dimensional environments. By refining artificial potential field methods, this work helps make robot trajectories more realistic and reliable for real-world applications. In “Controller design of a truck and multiple trailer system” (2010, 4 citations), Luo tackles the complex control problem of steering articulated vehicles with limited degrees of freedom—a critical issue for improving the maneuverability and safety of heavy transport. Additionally, “Geometry optimization of a new hybrid robot manipulator” (2011, 2 citations) contributes to parallel robotics by using Parameter Design Space methods to optimize the workspace and kinematic performance of a 3-TPS/TP manipulator. Together, these works demonstrate Luo’s commitment to solving practical problems in robotics and automation, from mobile robot navigation to industrial manipulator design.
