About
Dr. Fuquan Zheng is a leading researcher in intelligent robotic systems, with a primary focus on automated welding and 3D vision-guided manufacturing. His work addresses a critical bottleneck in industrial robotics: the time-consuming and inflexible manual programming of welding trajectories. Dr. Zheng’s most influential contribution, published in 2022, is a robot welding path planning and automatic programming method for open impellers, which has already garnered 24 citations. This work pioneers the use of 3D vision to eliminate traditional teaching and programming steps, directly increasing manufacturing flexibility. Building on this, his 2024 paper on feature extraction over workpiece point clouds for robotic welding (19 citations) advances the field by developing robust algorithms for automatic weld seam detection, moving beyond reliance on geometric assumptions.
